Zotac turbo-charges ZBOX Nano series

Fresh Core i5 and i7 Haswell parts

Zotac’s foray into the mini PC market has been a success and currently you can choose from dozens of different ZBOX mini PCs and barebones in most markets. In addition to entry level designs based on ULV Celerons and AMD APUs, Zotac usually tends to offer a few high-end models powered by pricier chips.

That’s what the latest additions to the ZBOX line are all about. The ID68 is powered by Core i5 4200U processor, while the ID69 ships with an even more powerful Core i7 4500U. Both dual-core chips are based on Intel’s latest Haswell core and unlike many low voltage chips used in mini PCs, they’ve got TurboBoost.

In other words, the Core i5 SKU can turbo from 1.6GHz to 2.6GHz, while the Core i7 based version can hit 3.0GHz from a base clock of 1.8GHz. Both processors feature Intel HD Graphics 4400. The rest of the spec sheet is in line with what we’ve come to expect from Zotac’s ZBOX series, which means it’s top notch. You get HDMI and DisplayPort, USB 3.0, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, high-amp USB charging ports and a VESA mount.

As usual, the ID68 and ID69 are available as barebones and as complete systems, in which case they ship with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. However, there is no word on pricing yet, but we doubt they’ll come cheap - Core i5 and i7 parts tend to be pricey.
