All based on 5nm Zen 4 architecture, these Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series and Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-series processors promise some impressive performance in multithreaded workloads, especially when it comes to Ryzen Threadripper Pro series. As said, the flagship Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX packs 96-cores and 192-threads, has 480MB of total cache (384MB of L3), eight-channel DDR5 memory support, and works at up to 5.1GHz boost clock (2.5GHz base clock). The entire Ryzen Threadripper Pro lineup is rated at 350W TDP.
The AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-series will launch with OEM and SI partners, including Dell, HP, Lenovo, and others.
The Ryzen Threadripper 7000 will certainly bring joy to desktop users and creators and will be available in both retail and with various system integrators. The flagship Ryzen Threadripper 7980X offers 64-cores and 128-threads, has 320MB of total cache, and works at 3.2GHz base and 5.1GHz Boost clocks. It also has a 350W TDP, and comes with a hefty $4,999 price tag. The other two SKUs are the 32-core/64-thread Ryzen Threadripper 7970X, and the 24-core/48-thread Ryzen Threadripper 7960X, retailing at $2,499 and $1,499, respectively.
The new AMD Threadripper 7000 series and Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-series CPUs will both work on AMD TRX50 chipset motherboards, which offer 92 PCIe lanes (88 usable, with up to 48 PCIe 5.0 lanes), and support for up to 1TB of DDR5-5200 RDIMM memory in quad-channel. The TRX50 chipset motherboards will have support for overclocking.
On the other hand, the WRX90 chipset motherboards are reserved only for Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-series SKUs, offering 8-channel 2TB DDR5-5200 memory support, 148 PCIe lanes (144 usable and up to 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes), as well as support for AMD PRO Manageability, PRO Business Ready, Secure Processor, Shadow Stack, and Memory Guard support. It will also support overclocking, although not on OEM systems.
According to AMD, workstation systems from partners, including Dell Technologies, HP, and Lenovo, as well as system integrators, with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-Series processors are expected to be available by the end of 2023. The HEDT systems with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Series processors will be available from System Integrators by the end of 2023, while the retail market will get those on November 21st.
