Although both have leaked earlier and even went on sale in Europe before the official launch, we now have official specifications and details for both smartphones. The biggest upgrade is the new 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2340x1080 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung also equipped both phones with 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging.

The Galaxy A55 might be a big winner

The new Galaxy A55 sounds quite impressive on paper as it has a metal frame paired up with glass front and rear. The glass is the Gorilla Glass Victus+, and the phone weighs 213g with 161.1x77.4x8.2mm dimensions. More importantly, Samsung equipped it with the new Exynos 1480 SoC with an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU, pairing it up with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.

The camera system includes a 50MP f/1.8 main one with OIS, paired up with a 12MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultrawide camera and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. The front camera is a 32MP f/2.2 one.

The Galaxy A35 gets older chipset

The Galaxy A35 5G uses plastic for the frame, but still has glass on both front and rear of the phone. It weighs 209g and measures 161.7x78x8.2mm. In order to keep the price down, Samsung is using older 5nm Exynos 1380 SoC with Mali-G68 MP5 GPU, pairing it up with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage.

The camera system got a slight cut down as well with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultrawide shooter, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro unit. It lacks OIS and has smaller ultrawide sensor, but it should do well for an average user. Samsung also cut the front camera down to a 13MP f/2.2 one.

Samsung was keen to note that both phones will come with Samsung Knox Vault, which should handle the security quite well, and even gets an optional Auto Blocker for malware and other security issues. Samsung is also promising 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security updates for both phones, which is impressive for A-series smartphones.

As detailed earlier, The Samsung Galaxy A55 will start at €479 for the base 128GB model, while the 256GB version will sell for €50 more, at €529. The Galaxy A35 starts at €379 for the base 128GB version and €449 for the 256GB one, which also gets 8GB of RAM.
